Childfree by choice for five years, Eve Watson’s husband suddenly adopted a pair of twins. He told her to raise the twins as if they were her own. Not only that, but he even planned to leave them his trillion-dollar fortune as heirs. Eve thought her husband had simply changed his mind about staying childfree. Hence, believing he now wanted a family of their own, she went to the hospital, preparing to have her IUD removed so she could get pregnant. However, the doctor’s words shattered her world. As it turns out, she had no uterus. It had been surgically removed five years ago. Chapter 1 “Some women are born without a uterus,” the doctor said calmly. “But that’s not your case, Ms. Watson. Your uterus was surgically removed.” Eve Watson’s mind went blank. Five years ago, she had only undergone one surgery. That was the procedure to insert an IUD—and her husband, Sean Baker, had accompanied her the entire time. An IUD insertion did not require general anesthesia. However, Sean had been worried she might feel pain, so he used his status and influence to pressure the hospital into giving her the most expensive full anesthesia available. Could her uterus have been removed during that surgery? That was impossible. Sean had been waiting outside the operating room the whole time. The hospital would never do such a thing. Eve was still reeling when a sharp, angry voice suddenly rang out not far away. It was her sister-in-law, Cindy Baker. “Sean, you’ve gone too far. Bringing those two illegitimate children home was bad enough. Now you want to bring Mandy Smith back as well? Are you planning to carry on the affair right under Eve’s nose?” “Watch your words, Cindy,” Sean replied coldly, his face dark. “Affair? Mandy and I aren’t like that. She saved my life. I’m just repaying her kindness.” “Oh, please,” Cindy sneered. “Repaying her kindness by having her give birth to a set of twins? Sean, don’t be such a jerk. Where are your principles?” “I didn’t want them either,” Sean snapped. “But her father was gravely ill back then. Before he died, his only wish was to see Mandy married and with children. I owed her my life. Giving her a child was the least I could do to repay that debt. I had no choice.” “No choice?” Cindy’s voice rose. “So that’s why you secretly married Mandy behind Eve’s back? And after the wedding, you tricked Eve into getting an IUD, then took the opportunity to have her uterus removed?” The words struck Eve like a bolt of lightning. Her vision went dark, and she stumbled, almost collapsing. So the person who ordered her uterus to be removed… was her own husband? “Eve has a low pain tolerance,” Sean continued. “Childbirth is too cruel, and I couldn’t bear to put her through that. Besides, when we went for the checkup, the doctor said she had uterine fibroids. If they weren’t removed, her life could’ve been in danger. Isn’t everything perfect now? Mandy gave birth to twins, and now the Baker family has heirs. Eve doesn’t have to suffer through childbirth, and her life is no longer at risk. “As for Mandy… she’s terminally ill. She doesn’t have much time left. After all, she has given me a son and a daughter. I can’t bear for her to die alone. That is why I want to bring her home and accompany her through her final days.” Sean even looked pleased with himself. “What I did may seem outrageous,” he said, “but in the end, it benefits everyone. Just don’t let it slip, Cindy. She only has one week left. After that, everything will be over.” Eve did not know how she made it home. She felt so cold. The house that had once been warm now felt like an ice cellar. Everywhere she looked were memories of her and Sean. She had always believed he was the man who loved her most in this world. They had kissed beneath the northern lights; they had held hands and skydived from ten thousand feet in the air; they had embraced in the deep sea, watching the stars of the ocean floor together. Sean was the heir to an influential and wealthy family. His status should never have allowed him to do such extreme things, but she liked them, and so he did them all with her. “For you, even dying in an accident would be worth it,” he had once whispered as he held her tightly. “As long as you’re by my side, I’d die without regret. You’re the only woman I will ever love in this lifetime.” Those vows, once so sincere, now felt rotten—molded beyond recognition. Eve broke down. She could no longer bring herself to stay in a house filled with lies and false memories. She lit the fireplace, then one by one, threw every reminder of their past into the flames. As the fire burned, the front door suddenly opened. Sean came back, and with him was Mandy, pale and fragile, dressed in a hospital gown. “Eve, this is Mandy,” Sean said smoothly, not even glancing at what she was burning. His smile was gentle, his lies effortless. “You know her. She’s my mentor’s daughter, but my mentor and his wife have both passed away, leaving Mandy all alone now. And she has late-stage lymphoma… She doesn’t have much time left, and I couldn’t bear to leave her by herself in the hospital, so I brought her home to recover. “Don’t worry,” he added quickly. “I’ve hired a caregiver to look after her. You won’t have to do anything. You can even pretend she doesn’t exist.” Every word made it clear that he had made the decision. He never intended to discuss it with Eve. “Okay,” Eve said softly. She tossed the last photograph into the fire. It curled, blackened, and turned to ash, just like her marriage to Sean. Chapter 2 Just like that, Mandy moved in. At last, the family of four was reunited. When the two children saw Mandy, their faces immediately filled with shock and joy. The younger one could not hold back her excitement and blurted out, “Mom!” Fortunately, Sean reacted quickly. He pulled Eve into his arms and kissed her on the cheek, then laughed casually. “Our daughter is calling you.” However, in reality, the adopted twins—one boy and one girl—had been living in the Baker residence for a full three months. During that entire time, they had never once addressed Eve as Mom, and that was even though, before learning the truth, Eve had loved and cared for them as if they were her own flesh and blood. Now, in order not to give anything away, the so-called daughter, Annie Baker, shot Eve a vicious glare. Then, with obvious reluctance, she said, “Mom, I want some pistachios. De-shell them for me.” The pistachio shells were hard, and de-shelling them always made her fingers ache. Hence, she thought she would make Eve suffer for having the nerve to compete for her dad’s affection with her mom. Before this, Annie had often asked Eve to de-shell pistachios for her. Eve had simply assumed the child liked them and never thought too deeply about it, so she opened them every time without complaint. Yet now, seeing the undisguised malice in the child’s eyes, Eve’s heart instantly went cold. “If you want them, get the nanny to de-shell them for you.” Sean stepped forward protectively, blocking Eve. He gently took her hand and said with a smile, “My wife’s hands are so soft. I don't even have the heart for her to de-shell them for me.” Mandy’s expression darkened instantly. Hatred flashed across her face as she silently glared at Eve. Then, out of nowhere, she suddenly asked, “Sean, where’s your rosary?” Sean had always worn a rosary on his wrist. It was something Eve had personally prayed for him to receive. She had traveled far, kneeling step by step in sincere devotion and climbing at high altitude just to ask for them on his behalf. The rosary had been blessed by a senior priest. Sean had been so deeply moved that he had worn them on his left wrist ever since, never once taking them off. Now, his wrist was empty. “Where is my rosary?” Sean froze in shock. “I was wearing it this morning…” Just as anxiety rose in his chest and he was about to look for them, he looked up and met Mandy’s gaze, filled with unmistakable desire. Her face was flushed red. She licked her lips slowly, then, under Sean’s stare, discreetly slid her hand between her thighs. As she did, she deliberately swayed her body slightly and let out a soft, breathy moan. “Ah… Sean… My stomach hurts. Can you help me upstairs to lie down for a while?” The hint could not have been clearer. Sean’s breathing instantly grew heavier. His voice dropped as he said, “Eve, I’ll help Mandy upstairs to rest first. Take care of the kids.” Without waiting for a response, he eagerly supported Mandy and headed upstairs with her. Eve’s heart turned cold. She instructed the nanny to take the two children away before she silently went upstairs. The bedroom door was left slightly open. Sean was in such a hurry that he had even forgotten to lock it. “Are you crazy? You actually put my rosary in a place like that!” Sean was scolding her, but there was no real anger in his voice—only a faint trace of excitement. “Ah… Sean…It’s too deep. I can’t get it out. Help me, please…” Mandy grabbed his hand and guided it downward. Soon after, Eve heard the sound of beads hitting the floor. One rosary bead, smeared with an unknown liquid, slowly rolled to her feet before coming to a stop. Eve closed her eyes in despair. The rosary she had once knelt step by step to pray for—beads that carried her devotion and faith—had now become tools for their affair. Right in front of her, without even bothering to hide it, they trampled on her love and desecrated her faith. She did not want a marriage or a man like that anymore. Chapter 3 Eve was done with it all. That very night, she contacted a lawyer and got him to draft the divorce papers for her. At the same time, she paid a professional team to erase every trace of her existence. “I want to disappear completely,” Eve said over the phone. “How long will it take to erase every trace that I was ever here?” “At the earliest, one week,” the other party replied. Eve froze for a moment. Sean had once said that Mandy only had one week left. After one week, everything would be over. He would return to the family, come back to her side, and love her wholeheartedly again. The thought made Eve laugh softly. How could such a good deal exist in this world, thinking that he could play around until he was satisfied and then come back to his family? Did he really think she would stay where she was, waiting for her forever? No. She would not wait, and he would not be able to come back to her either, because by the time he decided to come back, he would realize that he no longer had a family. “Fine. One week,” Eve said without hesitation. “I’ve transferred the money. Make sure I disappear completely.” The next morning, the desecrated rosary appeared on Sean’s wrist once again. The sight made Eve feel sick. She could not even bring herself to eat breakfast. Sean, however, looked proud of himself. “Eve, I found the rosary you gave me. They’re a symbol of our love. I’ll wear them for the rest of my life and never lose them again.” The moment he said those words, Mandy, who was sitting across from them, suddenly twisted in pain. She spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed onto the floor, her body convulsing violently. “Mandy! What’s wrong?” Sean rushed over and scooped her into his arms. At the same time, the two children burst into loud sobs. Annie pointed at Eve and shouted, “Dad, it was Mom! Mom secretly put mango in Mandy’s food! Mandy is allergic to mango! She wanted to kill Mandy!” Sean frowned instinctively and immediately denied it. “Annie, don’t talk nonsense. Eve isn’t that kind of person.” However, in the next second, the older twin, Zack Baker, suddenly rushed over and covered his sister’s mouth. His voice trembled with fear as he said, “Annie, stop talking, or Mom will beat us to death!” As he spoke, he deliberately pulled up his sleeve. His arm was covered in deep, bloody welts layered one over another, as if they had been struck repeatedly by a barbed whip. Sean’s eyes widened. He slowly raised his head and stared at Eve in disbelief. “Did you do this to them?” Eve’s expression remained calm. “If I say I didn’t, would you believe me?” When they got married, he had promised her that he would believe her unconditionally. However, seeing Mandy coughing up blood and the two children covered in injuries now, all that remained in Sean’s heart was anger. “They’re only five years old. Do you think they’d lie? And in this house, besides you, who would dare lay a hand on them? Eve, they’re just five-year-old children. How could you be so cruel?” Mandy was still convulsing, and Sean no longer wanted to argue. He picked her up, ready to take her to the hospital. At that moment, Eve suddenly found it difficult to breathe. Her throat felt swollen, as if something was choking her. Red rashes quickly spread across her skin—clear signs of a severe allergic reaction. “Soy...” she clutched her neck and struggled to speak. “I’m allergic to soy...” That morning, she had only drunk a cup of latte with oat milk. Everyone in the house knew she was allergic to soy, so the servants would never put soy into her drink. Annie shot Eve a smug glance. She was the one who had added the soybeans. “S-Sean…” Eve’s breathing grew more labored. She tried to call out to him, hoping he would take her to the hospital as well. However, all Sean did was shoot her a cold look. “Eve, quit the act. Everyone in this house knows you’re allergic to soy. Who would dare put it into your drink? You did something wrong, refused to admit it, and now you’re faking an allergy for attention. I’m deeply disappointed in you.” With that, he turned around, carrying Mandy, and walked out. He left Eve alone on the floor, abandoned and unheard. Chapter 4 When Eve woke up again, she found herself lying in a hospital bed. The person sitting by her side was not Sean but the family’s housekeeper. “Ma’am, you’re finally awake,” the housekeeper said, still shaken. “I was the one who brought you to the hospital. I made the oat milk myself. I swear to God, I didn’t put any soybeans in it.” Eve slowly closed her eyes. A thin tear slid down the corner of her eye. “I know.” The housekeeper had made the oat milk, so she was absolutely certain there were no soybeans in it. Yet when Eve collapsed, the housekeeper still chose to believe that it was an allergic reaction and rushed her to the hospital. However, where was Sean? The man who had once promised to love her for the rest of his life had left her alone at home, waiting to die. Mandy was in the hospital room right next door. Late that night, when Eve got up to use the restroom, she saw Sean standing beside Mandy’s bed, keeping watch over her. He used to do the same for Eve whenever she was sick. A man of his status was always busy, with endless responsibilities and obligations. Yet every time Eve fell ill, he would cancel all his work and stay by her side. He would pour her water, cook for her, and coax her into taking her medicine… Thinking of those memories, Eve’s eyes reddened. She could not understand how something once so beautiful had turned into this. “Sean, I’m about to die,” Mandy said weakly from the bed, tears clinging to her lashes as she leaned into his arms. “Before I die, I want an answer. After all this time, did you ever love me?” Sean fell silent for a long time. “Even just a little would be enough,” Mandy sobbed. “Sean, I’m not asking for your whole heart. If you’ve ever felt even the slightest bit of affection for me, I could die with no regret.” Looking at Mandy’s tear-streaked face, Sean’s heart ached. As if he could no longer suppress his emotions, he reached out and pulled her tightly into his arms. “Mandy, of course I have feelings for you,” he said softly. “Forgive me. I can’t tell you that I love you because I already have Eve. I can’t betray her. But if Eve didn’t exist, I could tell you this: you would be the woman I love most in this world.” Eve felt as if someone had punched a hole straight through her heart and squeezed it. She lifted her hand to touch her face, only then realizing that tears were already streaming down. She had once believed that Sean was only with Mandy for the thrill of it. She had thought there was nothing between them but desire—no love. However, how could there be no love? When Mandy collapsed, coughing up blood, his eyes had been filled with panic and concern. When Mandy placed the rosary, one that Eve had once knelt step by step to beg for, into such a filthy place, he had not said a single word of blame. The scales in his heart had already tipped long ago. Eve turned away, tears falling as she walked off. She had barely taken a few steps when her phone suddenly vibrated. Mandy had sent her a video. Below it was a message that read: [Everything he once gave you, he has also given to me.] Eve tapped on the video, and a lively wedding scene appeared on the screen. At a glance, she recognized the venue. It was the very place where she and Sean had held their wedding. Not only was the location the same, but the decorations, the layout, and even the smallest details were identical. For a brief moment, Eve almost believed the video was footage from her own wedding. However, that illusion was shattered the second Mandy, wearing a white wedding gown, appeared on screen. Eve gasped. “Mandy, I’ve heard from Sean that you’re pregnant with his child, and twins at that,” Sean’s mother said warmly in the video, holding Mandy’s hand with obvious affection. “I’m so happy! You’re truly a great blessing to the Baker family! Even though you and Sean can’t legally get married, I promise you this: everything Eve has, you’ll have too. And everything she doesn’t have, you’ll have as well.” As she spoke, Sean’s mother removed the emerald bracelet from her own wrist. “This is the Baker family’s heirloom,” she said with a smile. “It’s an antique, something once worn by royalty. There’s only one of these in the Baker family. It’s passed down only to the daughter-in-law.” With that, she slipped the bracelet onto Mandy’s wrist and said, “Mandy, you’re the only daughter-in-law I acknowledge.” Chapter 5 Due to their decision to remain childfree, Sean’s mother had never liked Eve. She had always believed it was Eve who insisted on not having children, refusing to give the Baker family an heir. However, in reality, Eve loved children. More than that, she had always wanted a child of her own. She was an orphan. She had no family in this world to rely on. A child would have been the only person truly connected to her by blood—the only family she could ever call her own. How could she not want children? The one who insisted on being childfree was Sean. Back when they had just gotten married, the two of them had once watched a childbirth documentary by chance. The footage was brutally real and graphic. After watching it, Sean was deeply shaken and refused to let Eve go through childbirth, no matter what. “Childbirth is terrifying,” he had said at the time. “Eve, I won’t let you go through that kind of pain. They say giving birth is like walking through the gates of hell. Just thinking that I could lose you because of it? I can’t handle that. “Eve, I can’t live without you. If anything happened to you, I’d lose my mind. I don’t want children. I want you.” Hearing those words back then, Eve had been deeply moved. She truly believed Sean loved her so much that he refused to let her suffer, even if it meant giving up on having children altogether. Uterine fibroids were never life-threatening. Now that she thought about it, perhaps Sean had started planning on removing her uterus from that moment on. Maybe he had even deliberately shown that documentary about fatal childbirth complications to her… A few days later, both Eve and Mandy were discharged from the hospital. During those days, Sean had been busy taking care of Mandy. Not once did he notice that Eve had also been hospitalized, right next door to Mandy, no less. Eve did not bother explaining anything. She had decided she would no longer continue the marriage with Sean anyway. Yet, Sean acted magnanimously. He sought Eve out and said, “Eve, I forgive you.” Eve found it ridiculous. What right did he have to say that? “We’re married to each other,” Sean continued. “No matter how out of line you were, I’ll forgive you. But I hope there won’t be a next time. As punishment, I’ll sleep in the study for a while. You should also take this time to reflect on what you did.” After saying that, Sean packed up his things and moved into the study. That very night, Eve received a provocative video from Mandy. In the video, Mandy lay beneath Sean, her clothes in disarray. She gasped softly, her voice filled with longing. “Ah… Sean, harder… Make me forget the pain. Make me forget everything. Let me think only of you. I love only you…” Her intimate and emotional confession clearly excited Sean. His movements grew more intense. When emotions peaked, he held Mandy tightly in his arms and cried out uncontrollably, “Mandy! I love you!” “What did you say?” Mandy’s face lit up with joy. “Say it again. I want to hear it.” Sean’s expression darkened instantly. It was obvious that the words “I love you” had slipped out in the heat of the moment. Now that his rationality had returned, he refused to say them again, no matter how much Mandy begged. Seeing that, tears immediately streamed down Mandy’s face. “Sean,” she sobbed, “I’m about to die. Are you still refusing to say those three words to me while I’m still alive?” Sean looked tortured. “Mandy, don’t force me to say it.” “Then I’d rather just die right now!” Mandy rushed to the window, pretending she was about to jump. “Anyway, no one in this world loves me!” “Mandy, what are you doing? Get down, now!” Sean panicked. “I won’t,” she said, biting her lip, tears filling her eyes. “Since you don’t love me, there’s no point in my living.” As she said that, half of her body leaned out the window. Sean’s heart dropped. He lunged forward and pulled Mandy back into his arms. “Who says I don’t love you?” he shouted, his emotions spiraling out of control. “I love you so much, I’m going crazy! “Do you think I’m some scumbag who would betray his marriage and his wife?” His eyes were bloodshot as he roared, close to breaking down. “I love Eve! Betraying her makes me disgusted with myself! But I can’t help it. Your existence drives me insane. You make me someone I don’t even recognize anymore!” Finally satisfied, Mandy wrapped her arms around Sean’s neck and asked sweetly, “Then, Sean… can I understand this as you loving me more than Eve?” Sean’s face hardened. “Don’t push your luck.” The video ended abruptly. Eve cried and cried, and then suddenly laughed. As it turned out, Sean knew he was a disgusting man. What right did he have to act like the victim when he was the one who betrayed the marriage and betrayed her? Eve wiped away her tears. In silence, she downloaded every video Mandy had sent her and forwarded them all to her lawyer. “This is proof of his affair,” Eve said calmly. “And he removed my uterus without my consent. I won’t appear in person during the divorce. I don’t want to see Sean ever again. You’ll represent me and handle all the procedures. “Name your price. I don’t just want a divorce; I want you to help me get my uterus back.” Chapter 6 After Eve seriously began preparing for divorce, Sean was busy indulging in a frenzy of secret affairs with Mandy. Perhaps he believed Mandy did not have long to live. That was why he felt the need to seize every chance he had, afraid that if he did not take her again and again now, there would be no future opportunity. Whenever he found an opening, he would pin her beneath him, and every single time they slept together, Mandy secretly recorded it. Then, she would send the videos to Eve. They did not just sneak around in the study. During morning runs, they would have reckless encounters in a nearby park. Sometimes, Sean even brought Mandy to the office while he was at work. In the videos she sent, there were even scenes of her kneeling beneath his desk, servicing him while he sat above her… Mandy’s stamina was nothing like that of someone who was supposedly dying. No matter how hard Sean pushed her, she could endure it. More than that, she clearly enjoyed it. Eve had investigated in secret and found out that Mandy never had lymphoma at all. The illness was nothing more than a lie she fabricated so she could openly move into the Baker’s residence, and it was a lie so crude that Eve uncovered the truth with minimal effort. If Sean had wanted to investigate, how could he possibly have missed it? It showed he simply did not want to know, because as long as he did not look too closely, he could continue fooling around with Mandy without guilt. “Eve, you really are spineless.” After sending so many videos and receiving no reaction, Mandy finally lost her patience. She came over to provoke Eve. “Sean pins me down every night. My legs are so weak from it. I can barely stand anymore. Are you just going to watch all this happen? You’re pathetic. You don’t even have the courage to confront Sean. “Are you that afraid he’ll leave you? You pretend to be calm, but inside, you’re terrified, aren’t you? You’re scared that if you make a scene, Sean will choose me instead of you.” Eve lifted her eyes and glanced at Mandy calmly, asking, “Are you that sure that Sean would choose you?” “Of course.” Mandy smiled smugly. “If you don’t believe it, just wait and see.” Just then, a car suddenly sped straight toward the direction where Eve and Mandy were standing. Sean, who was standing nearby, noticed something was wrong instantly. Without hesitation, he dropped everything in his hands and lunged toward Mandy. “Mandy, watch out!” he yelled, wrapping his body tightly around her, shielding her behind him. Eve did not have time to dodge. The car slammed into her, sending her flying through the air. Before losing consciousness, the last thing she saw was Sean holding Mandy tightly, using his own body to block all harm meant for her. Blood and tears blurred together. As her awareness faded, a memory suddenly surfaced. Once, when she and Sean went tandem skydiving together, there had been an accident where the parachute malfunctioned and refused to open. As they plummeted toward certain death, Sean suddenly pulled Eve into his arms, placing himself beneath her. That way, no matter how they landed, he would take the impact first. He had once used his body to protect her, but now, he had abandoned her to protect another woman. After some time, in the darkness, Eve faintly heard Sean’s voice. With great effort, she opened her eyes to see Sean holding her phone, looking irritated as he spoke into it, “A divorce lawyer? You’ve got the wrong number. My relationship with Eve is fine. There’s no way we’re getting divorced. Our marriage only ends in widowhood—never in divorce.” Chapter 7 After saying that, Sean hung up the phone with a grim expression. Eve closed her eyes wearily. “You shouldn’t have taken my call without telling me.” Only then did Sean realize she was awake. He hurriedly sat beside her, his hand clutching hers, full of worry. “Eve, you’re awake? That’s such a relief! Do you know how much blood you lost? I nearly lost my mind!” Eve stared at him coldly, saying nothing. Seeing her silence, Sean looked a little guilty. “Eve, are you mad at me? Don’t be mad. It’s not that I didn’t want to save you… It’s just that from where I was, I couldn’t see you at all. I only realized you were there after saving Mandy. My heart broke when I saw her in danger. If I had known you were there too, I would have saved you first, I swear!” However, Eve realized she could not tell which of Sean’s words were true and which were lies. How tragic. They had shared a bed for five years. The man in front of her should have been the one she trusted the most and the one closest to her heart. Yet now, looking at him, she only felt estranged. The man she had once loved so deeply was gone, buried in her memories, never to return. “I’m tired,” Eve said, closing her eyes again, not wanting to see him any longer. Sean clearly wanted to say more, but seeing her eyes shut, he sighed and said, “Alright, rest. I’ll handle some company matters and be back soon.” However, no sooner had he left than Eve received another provocative video from Mandy. In the video, Mandy clung to Sean’s arm, a sweet smile on her face. “Sean, are you really going to pass down all of the Baker family’s fortune to Zack and Annie?” “Yeah,” Sean said in a firm tone. “I’ve instructed my lawyer to draw up the documents. After tonight’s dinner, I’ll sign them publicly, in front of everyone and the media, officially recognizing Zack and Annie as my only heirs. Zack will inherit Bakers Corporation, while Annie will inherit over half of the Baker family’s real estate, along with all the precious jewelry that belonged to my mother and to Eve.” The jewelry alone was worth millions or even tens of millions each… Together, it was priceless. Mandy could not hide her smugness, yet she pretended to ask, “Does Eve agree to this, though? After all, Zack and Annie aren’t her biological children. What if she has children of her own someday…” “Eve won’t have children,” Sean said decisively. “Zack and Annie will be her only children. She doesn’t have a choice. I won’t let her have children of her own, so she has to raise them as her own flesh and blood. “Mandy,” he continued, holding her hand firmly, “even if I can’t give you a marriage, I promise this: all my inheritance belongs to our children. Eve has my heart, but you and the children have all my wealth.” The video ended abruptly. Eve gripped her phone so tightly that her knuckles turned white. He had taken her uterus, and now he expected her to raise the children he had with another woman? Fine. Taking a deep breath, Eve called her divorce lawyer. “Are the divorce papers ready? Send it to Sean immediately.” “There’s a dinner party tonight. He plans to announce publicly that all Baker family inheritance will go to the illegitimate children. You need to get there before he announces it and make him sign the papers first. He can give half of his fortune to whoever he wants. My half? Not a penny goes to them. I’d rather dump it into the sea.” After finishing the call, Eve received a message from the professional team that would help her disappear. [Ms. Watson, everything is ready. You can leave at any time.] A faint smile finally appeared on Eve’s tired face. She sent her location, and within half an hour, the team had arranged for her pickup. With the team’s accompaniment, she boarded a plane bound for another country. Before takeoff, she forwarded every video Mandy had sent her straight to Sean, adding a message. [You don’t need to apologize. I do not forgive you.] Then, she threw her phone into the trash and boarded the plane. Meanwhile, the Baker family dinner party had begun. The event was extravagant, full of high society elites. A crowd of media journalists waited with cameras ready, all eager for Sean’s big announcement. “Thank you all for taking the time to attend this dinner with us at Bakers Corporation,” Sean said, his tone serious. “I have an important announcement tonight. “Some media may have caught wind already, but recently, my wife Eve and I have adopted a pair of twins. I’ve always believed that adopted children are no different from our own biological children. So tonight, I will publicly declare, in front of everyone and all media–” Before he could finish, Eve’s divorce lawyer stepped forward in a single stride, raising his voice to say, “Mr. Sean Baker! I am Ms. Eve Watson’s divorce lawyer. She has entrusted me to divorce you! Here are the divorce papers. Please sign it!”
