I jokingly told my mate, Ethan, that I had stepped out on him. Instead of getting angry, he let out a huge sigh of relief. "Summer, thank goodness! To be honest, I've been keeping a secret from you for a long time too." The relieved smile on his face made my stomach drop. "Since you cheated on me, let's just reject the mate bond. Your pack sister, Claire, is pregnant—with my pups. She lives right downstairs. Every time I told you I was on patrol duty, I was actually taking her to her prenatal checkups." "I felt so guilty before. But now that you've found someone else, I don't have to carry that burden anymore. This pack apartment goes to me—consider it compensation for breaking your vows." That night, he shamelessly announced he was going downstairs to stay the night with Claire. Watching him practically sprint out the door, I let out a cold laugh. He wants to reject the bond? I’m definitely not letting him off that easily. A month later, Ethan fell to his knees in front of me, eyes bloodshot. "Summer, I'm begging you... please, reject the mate bond with me!" "What's with that face?" Seeing me stay silent, Ethan’s smirk grew more obnoxious. "We're both grown wolves here. You slept with another male first, so leaving this pack apartment to me as compensation is totally fair, right?" He smoothed down his collar, dripping with smug calculation. "Besides, you've always been dull and boring. In bed, you just lie there like a dead fish. Claire is so much sweeter than you. She's gentle, caring, and knows how to keep things exciting—unlike you." Listening to his shameless bullshit made my stomach violently churn. I wanted to throw up. "When did this start?" I choked back the tremor in my voice, glaring holes through him. He shrugged, throwing it out like it was nothing. "About two years ago. Right around the time your dad died." Two years ago. Those words hit me like a sledgehammer, freezing the blood in my veins. Back then, my dad died suddenly from a heart attack, and my entire world collapsed. I couldn't even keep food down. I spent every day crying until I could barely see. I thought Ethan was working day and night on pack patrols just to support our home. Turns out, while I was drowning in grief, he was rolling around in bed with my close friend! "You walked around with a miserable face every damn day back then. It was depressing, and frankly, annoying," he said. "Claire saw how stressed I was and invited me downstairs to comfort me. One thing led to another, and well, we slept together." He talked about his betrayal like it was casual dinner conversation, making himself out to be the victim. Looking at the wolf I’d shared a bed with for five years, he felt terrifyingly like a stranger. He didn't care whether I lived or died. He turned toward the door and slipped on his shoes. He was desperate to rush down to his cozy little love nest, unwilling to waste another second here. With his hand on the doorknob, he suddenly paused and glanced back at me. "Oh, right. Remember to make some chicken soup for Claire tomorrow." "Her morning sickness is terrible lately. She can't keep anything down, and she's already lost so much weight." "When I was in the hospital, the soup you made tasted amazing. Claire will definitely love it." Those words made the rage inside my chest erupt like a volcano. When he was in the hospital? That was a year ago, when he got into a horrific car crash, snapped two ribs, and almost died. When the Pack Healer called me, I was terrified out of my mind. I rushed to the clinic and cared for him around the clock without sleeping. To make that restorative soup, I peeled raw nuts without gloves, triggering an allergic reaction that left my hands blistered, swollen, and red. I endured the agonizing itch and burning pain to simmer that soup for four straight hours, feeding him spoonful by spoonful. "That car crash... were you on your way to see her?" I forced my voice to stay level. He froze for a second, then waved his hand in irritation, totally dismissive. "Ugh, that's ancient history! Why bring it up now?" "Claire said she was craving macarons from that bakery across town that day. I was rushing to meet her, drove too fast, and hit the guardrail." "Anyway, the cards are on the table now. Let's just move on. I wish you and your new lover the best." He tossed out the truth without a second thought, obliterating the very last shred of affection I held for him. The accident that almost killed him happened because he was desperate to spoil his little side piece. And the scars on my hands from that night felt like a massive, humiliating slap in the face! I stood rooted to the spot, entirely drained, without the energy to even scream at him. Before stepping out, he couldn't resist barking one last set of orders. "Pack up my stuff from the study tomorrow." "I'm living downstairs from now on. Won't be coming back up, so you can have your little fun with your new male wolf in peace." "I'll have the pack Beta draft the mate rejection papers and send them over. Sign them as soon as possible." *Slam!* The door shut violently. Only silence remained in the empty room. I walked to the window, watching the warm lights switch on downstairs, and let out a cold, sharp laugh. Did he really think a few casual excuses could erase two years of lies and betrayal? Did he honestly believe he could snatch my apartment and happily play house with his little home-wrecker? In his dreams. Rejecting the mate bond? That's way too merciful for those two scumbags. Since he’s so sure I betrayed him, I might as well make that joke come true. I'm going to make them pay a much bloodier price. I'll personally tear down their beloved romance and smash their little fantasy to pieces. The next morning, the door swung open. Ethan strutted in to pack his things, looking on top of the world. I was sitting on the couch, eyes swollen and red. "Are you really leaving?" My voice came out raw and broken, a tear splashing perfectly onto the back of my hand. "For five years, my entire world revolved around you. How am I supposed to survive without you?" He paused for a second, a smug, mocking smirk spreading across his face. "Cut the drama, Summer. Aren't you seeing another wolf already?" He adjusted his tie casually. "We had a good run. Don't act like I'm the bad guy kicking you out." I buried my face in my hands, sobbing uncontrollably. "I only said that because I was angry! There is no other wolf! I just wanted you to spend more time with me..." I cried like my heart was being ripped out. "If you take this apartment, where will I live? I won't have anything left! You're basically leaving me out to die!" Hearing that I hadn't actually cheated, he froze in shock before his smug pride practically blew the roof off. He really believed he was that irresistible—that I couldn't live without him. "Man, why put yourself through that?" He sighed, adopting a generous, magnanimous tone. "Claire is sweet, and she doesn't want to see you out on the streets. Tell you what, I'll transfer the three hundred thousand credits from our shared account to you. Consider it your severance pay." Eager to show Claire how cleanly he could handle me, and desperate to flex his wealth, he pulled out his ID card on the spot and transferred all the credits straight to my account. Watching the notification ping on my screen, I kept my head down, biting my lip to suppress the vicious smirk fighting its way onto my face. The second he finished hauling his luggage downstairs, I wiped away every trace of that pathetic act. Drying my tears, I fired up my laptop and logged straight into the Pack Internal Database—where his credentials were still saved. ### 小说标题 Reject My Mate Bond? In Your Dreams, Cheater!### 全文翻译 For five years, he had genuinely believed I was too plain and naive to suspect a thing. He hadn't even bothered to change his passwords. All those sickening text exchanges, call logs, and Claire's prenatal ultrasound reports—I saved every single one. That afternoon, I printed out the entire trail of evidence and mailed it straight to Claire's parents, retired high school teachers who valued their squeaky-clean reputation more than life itself. The very next morning, explosive screaming echoed from downstairs. Claire's parents had taken a red-eye flight, storming into the building and banging open her door. "You shameless little wretch! We spent our life savings putting you through college, and you move across the country to become a homewrecking mistress?!" Loud slaps rang out between Claire's hysterical sobs. Her father was trembling with fury, practically roaring. "Pregnant before marriage? You dragged our entire family name through the mud! If you don't get rid of that baby today, consider yourself disowned!" Ethan scrambled to throw himself in front of Claire, only for her mother to rake her nails across his face, drawing bright red streaks of blood. "Who the hell do you think you are?! Tricking my daughter into having your bastard? If you don't give us a straight answer and cough up five hundred thousand dollars in compensation, I swear I'll ruin you!" While chaos swallowed the apartment below, I casually poured myself a glass of red wine. Ethan was definitely in full panic mode right now, desperate for cash to shut her parents up. Too bad he didn't have a single cent left. Just yesterday, I took his credit cards on a little shopping spree at the luxury mall downtown. After suffering such emotional trauma, a girl needs to treat herself, right? Top-shelf wellness supplements, designer bags, high-end jewelry—I swiped without blinking. Once his checking was drained, I tapped straight into his backup credit lines. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in limit, completely maxed out in a single morning. Alert after alert popped up on his phone, but I just blocked his number and enjoyed my wine. Right now, he was being squeezed dry by Claire's furious parents, yet he couldn't even scrape together next month's rent. While I was planning my next move, pounding rattled my door the next morning. "Open this damn door! Get out here right now, you little bitch!" The moment I unlocked it, Ethan's mother barged in like a raging bull. "My son just found a real woman who can actually give him children! What the hell are you throwing a tantrum for?" "You're a useless woman who can't even get pregnant or keep her man happy! How dare you max out my son's hard-earned money?!" Spit flew from her mouth as she glared at me like she wanted to tear me apart with her teeth. "Hand over the deed to this place right now! This apartment belongs to Claire and my future grandbaby!" "You miserable jinx, sign the divorce papers, give up your claim, and pack your trash out of our sight!" She tore through the living room, tossing drawers and cushions around. When she couldn't find the property deed, she lunged at me in frustration. I stepped aside smoothly. She swung at empty air and tumbled face-first onto the couch. "The deed only has my name on it. It’s my premarital asset. If you try to steal it, I’m calling building security and the police right now." I stared down at her, voice ice-cold. His mother's eyes bugged out, pointing a trembling finger in my face. "Bullshit! My son contributes thousands of dollars every month! How dare you call it yours? You're stealing my family's legacy!" "His money?" I sneered. "Are you going senile? My dad paid for this place in full with his life savings before he died. Your son didn't contribute a single penny. What legacy?" Choking on her own rage, she dropped flat onto the floorboards. "Help! Murder! The evil daughter-in-law is abusing her mother-in-law! She's picking on a poor widow!" I didn't even bother arguing. I immediately dialed the residential manager and had building security drag her out for illegal trespassing. Right after that, I pulled up the neighborhood community group on SnapChat. "I need everyone's advice. I'm pregnant, but my mate refuses to acknowledge our baby and is having an affair with our downstairs neighbor, Claire." "She's living in Unit 102. She's carrying his child, and now her parents and his mother are banging on my door every single day, trying to force me out of my late father's apartment. I honestly don't know how much longer I can take this..." The second the post went live, the entire neighborhood group blew up. The local aunties and grandmas hated cheaters more than anything. "That girl always looked so quiet and innocent, and she's actually a filthy homewrecker?!" "Shameless! Betraying her own neighbor and stealing another woman's mate!" "Scum like that deserve to rot!" The older ladies on our block took zero prisoners. Within half a day, Claire's reputation was completely trashed across the entire neighborhood. Whenever she stepped outside, people glared and cursed behind her back. Someone even dumped garbage and rotten eggs on her front door. Terrified, she barricaded herself inside, too scared to even take out the trash. And that was just the opening act. To calm Claire down, Ethan gritted his teeth and promised he would marry her. Her parents, however, weren't buying his sweet talk. They laid down the law flat out. "You want to marry our daughter? Sever your mate bond first! Then hand over five hundred thousand dollars in cash, and transfer this apartment to Claire's name! Miss one condition, and you can forget about it!" Backed into a corner, Ethan pinned all his hopes on his job, trying desperately to close his pending deals. Too bad I'd already burned that bridge to ash. I sent screenshots of his sordid affair directly to his company's internal Slack channel and CC'd his boss. The CEO was furious and instantly stripped him of the massive corporate account he’d been chasing for six months. Colleagues who used to treat him with respect now crossed the hallway just to avoid brushing shoulders with him. In just one week, he looked like a walking corpse. That evening, a timid knock sounded at my door. I pulled it open. Ethan was standing there with heavy dark circles under his eyes, messy hair, and an utterly defeated face. *Thud.* His knees gave out, and he crashed onto the floor in front of me. With bloodshot eyes, his voice cracked into a desperate sob. "Summer, please... I'm begging you. Just sever the mate bond with me!" "I don't want anything anymore! The apartment is yours, the money is yours! Just let me go, okay?" Looking at him on his knees, my heart felt completely numb. "Sever the bond?" I looked down at him with a chilly smirk. "What's the rush? The real fun has only just begun." I was holding onto my ultimate trump card, and it was going to drag him into true despair. He snapped his head up, his face full of disbelief. "Didn't you step out on me too? Weren't you dying to ditch me?" "I was teasing you. It was a joke, and you actually bought it?" I chuckled softly. "This apartment was left to me by my father. Why the hell should I move out? I'm going to drag this out and watch you suffer." Ethan collapsed flat on the floor, his face pale as a ghost. "If you don't release me from the bond, Claire's parents are going to kill me!" He clawed at his hair, screaming in pure agony. "That sounds like your problem, not mine." I nudged him out of the doorway with my foot and slammed the heavy door right in his face. The next afternoon, I timed it perfectly and headed downstairs. Claire was sneaking out wearing an oversized mask to toss a bag of trash. Once glowing and stylish, she now had greasy, limp hair and a dull, sallow complexion. Seeing me, she looked like she’d seen a demon and whipped around to run. "Why running? Scared I'll bite?" She turned back, glaring at me like a cornered animal. "What else do you want? Ethan doesn't want you anymore!" I snorted, leaning in close to her ear. "He doesn't want me? He was on his knees outside my door last night, crying and begging for my forgiveness." Claire's eyes went wide. "You're lying! He swore we'd go file the paperwork to dissolve your bond today!" "Dissolve the bond? He hasn't even drafted the forms." "He promised me this apartment will always be mine, as my safety net for the future." "As for you? His exact words were: 'Claire is just an incubator. Once she pops out the pups, I'll toss her some pocket money and get rid of her.'" "You're lying! Ethan would never say that!" Claire shook violently with rage, her nails digging deep into her palms. "Don't believe me? Go ask him yourself why he's dragging his feet and won't take you to the registry office." I threw a dismissive glance at her stomach, spun on my heel, and walked away. Back in my living room, I unlocked my phone. It was loaded with dozens of screenshots. Desperate to win back business clients, Ethan had been shamelessly flirting with a "wealthy female angel investor." He had no clue that the loaded businesswoman throwing hints his way was an actress I had hired. In the chat logs, Ethan was drowning in slimy compliments. *Babe, those two crazy bitches back home are driving me insane.* *One got knocked up and thinks having my kid gives her the right to demand half a million dollars and marriage. She should look in the mirror first.* *You're the only one who actually understands me. The second I shake those two off, I'm all yours.* I bundled up all the screenshots and sent them directly to Claire's SnapChat. Calculating the time, Ethan's mother should be downstairs doting on her right about now. Sure enough, less than three seconds later, an ear-splitting shriek tore through the floorboards. "Ethan! Get your lying ass back here right now!" Their front door wasn't fully shut, so every scream drifted clearly up the stairwell. "Stop yelling! What if something happens to my grandbaby?! Take your supplements! Your only job right now is giving birth to my grandson!" "Screw your grandson!" Claire completely lost it, followed by the violent crash of a shattered glass. "What kind of disgusting monster is Ethan?! Two-timing three women at the same time!" "He promised this apartment would be mine, and behind my back, he tells his mate I'm just an incubator!" "And now he's out there whoring himself out to rich cougars! You people make me sick!" Heavy footsteps sprinted up the stairs outside. Ethan burst into the hallway, panting for breath. "Claire, what's wrong? Why are you freaking out like this?" "You have the nerve to ask?!" Claire sobbed hysterically. "Check your damn phone!" Ethan clearly opened the screenshots, because his voice pitched into sheer panic. "Claire, let me explain! That was just business networking! She's a high-profile client!" "A client?! Just networking, and you call me a crazy bitch trying to trap you?!" "You're a sick, lying bastard! You just wanted a free ride, expecting me to pop out your kid for nothing!" Hearing that, Ethan's mother snapped. "What do you mean 'for nothing'?! You little slut, you should thank your lucky stars my son even looked at you!" "Drink this medicine right now! If anything happens to my grandson, I'll tear you apart!" "I hope your whole rotten bloodline dies out!" Claire shrieked at the top of her lungs. "I'm going to the clinic right now and getting rid of this baby! You won't get a single dime from me!" "Don't you dare!" Ethan's mother screamed. A frantic scuffle broke out, cut short by Claire's agonizing, bloodcurdling cry.
