My Assassin Husband Pointed His Gun at the Mafia Queen
I'm Serena Vale, Queen of the Vale Mafia, and I made my husband the deadliest assassin in my empire. Then Adrian gets another woman pregnant. He points a gun at me to protect his mistress, lets her hurt our five-year-old daughter, and finally turns my own men against me. There's only one problem. My second-in-command never betrayed me. Neither did my men. I let him believe he did—and now I know exactly who deserves to fall with him.

第1章
I'm the Queen of the Vale Mafia, and my husband is the deadliest assassin I've ever trained.
Years ago, I pulled Adrian Cross out of hell, gave him a family, and made him powerful enough to stand beside me.
He's ruthless with everyone.
Everyone except me.
At least, that's what I used to believe.
Our daughter Ellie is five when Vanessa Cole walks into my private compound dressed like she already owns the place.
I don't meet her first.
Ellie does.
She comes running into the weapons room while I'm checking the targeting system, her face red with anger.
"Mommy."
I look away from the screen.
"What happened?"
She clenches her little fists.
"That woman said Daddy only had me because you got pregnant by accident."
My hand stills.
"What woman?"
"Vanessa."
Ellie's eyes fill with tears, but she refuses to cry.
"She said when her baby is born, you and I have to leave because Daddy will have a real family with her."
For a few seconds, the room goes silent.
Then I turn back to the targeting screen.
"Where is she?"
Ellie points toward the eastern training grounds.
I enter the coordinates.
One of my men hesitates.
"Ms. Vale, Mr. Cross is with her people right now."
"I didn't ask where Adrian is."
I press the authorization key.
The ground shakes.
A blast tears through the far side of the compound.
Smoke rises beyond the windows.
People start running.
Ellie's eyes widen.
I pick her up.
"Nobody talks to my daughter like that."
Minutes later, a helicopter appears above the compound.
I recognize the pilot immediately.
Adrian.
He lands hard on the helipad.
Vanessa climbs out beside him, pale and furious, one arm wrapped around her stomach.
Adrian strides toward me.
"What the hell are you doing?"
I set Ellie down behind me.
"Ask your girlfriend."
His expression changes.
"Vanessa isn't my girlfriend."
Ellie looks up at him.
"She said she's having your baby."
Silence.
Adrian doesn't deny it.
Vanessa steps closer to him.
"Adrian, forget it. She's angry. I shouldn't have said anything to Ellie."
"So it's true."
"Vanessa is pregnant."
"And the baby is yours."
"Yes."
Ellie's small hand grabs the back of my shirt.
I look at Adrian.
Five years ago, he held our daughter for the first time with blood still on his hands from the mission he'd abandoned just to reach the hospital.
Now he stands in front of her and admits another woman is carrying his child.
Vanessa gives Ellie a faint smile.
"I only told her the truth."
I pull my gun.
Adrian moves instantly.
He steps between us.
"Serena."
"Move."
"No."
Ellie's voice breaks behind me.
"Daddy, she was mean to me."
Adrian glances at her.
"Ellie, this is between adults."
"She said we have to leave!"
"I'll talk to her later."
Vanessa humiliates his five-year-old daughter inside my compound, and he'll deal with it later.
I aim past his shoulder.
Adrian's eyes turn cold.
"Put the gun down."
"Move."
"She's carrying my child."
"So is Ellie."
His face hardens.
"Don't do this."
"Then tell Vanessa to get out of my home."
Vanessa grips his arm.
"Adrian, I don't want to cause trouble."
I fire.
The bullet hits the ground inches from her foot.
She screams and stumbles back.
Adrian draws his gun.
For the first time in all the years I've known him, the barrel points directly at me.
Ellie gasps.
I look at the weapon, then at my husband.
"You'd point a gun at me for her?"
His hand doesn't move.
"You're out of control."
I laugh.
"No. I'm finally paying attention."
Vanessa presses closer to him.
Adrian keeps his gun raised.
"Let her go."
"She came into my territory and threatened my daughter."
"She said something stupid."
"She told Ellie she'd replace her."
"Vanessa is pregnant, Serena. I'm not letting you hurt her."
I take one step closer.
The barrel is now only inches from my chest.
"Then shoot me."
He doesn't pull the trigger.
I knew he wouldn't.
Then Ellie suddenly runs between us.
"Daddy, stop!"
"Ellie!"
Adrian reaches for her.
She tries to push his gun away.
Ellie loses her balance and crashes to the ground.
I move instantly.
Before I can reach her, Adrian grabs my wrist.
Vanessa cries out behind him.
I see the knife too late.
Adrian drives it into my shoulder.
Pain tears through me.
I don't make a sound.
He twists the blade once.
"Vanessa is my line, Serena."
Blood runs down my arm.
He pulls the knife free and turns toward her.
"She's carrying my child. I won't let that baby lose its mother before it's even born."
He leaves me standing there bleeding.
Vanessa follows him.
Ellie crawls toward me.
"Mommy..."
I kneel despite the pain and pull her into my arms.
She starts crying.
"Mommy, Daddy's bad."
For the first time in ten years, I don't defend him.
"Yeah."
I wipe Ellie's tears away.
"Maybe it's time we got rid of him."
第2章
Ellie develops a fever that night.
The bruising from her fall isn't serious, but by midnight her temperature is climbing.
I sit beside her until she finally falls asleep.
Years ago, Adrian would have panicked over a cough.
He once dragged three doctors out of bed at two in the morning because Ellie had a fever.
Tonight, he doesn't come.
By morning, my shoulder has been stitched and wrapped.
I'm still in the medical wing when one of the house staff rushes in.
"Ms. Vale."
I look up.
"Ellie is missing."
I stand immediately.
"Where?"
"Your private suite."
I know exactly who is there.
By the time I reach the main house, I can hear Vanessa giving orders from the hallway.
"Get rid of that couch."
A crash follows.
"And those decorations. They're awful."
I walk faster.
The bedroom door is open.
Vanessa is inside with a crutch under one arm, pointing around the room while servants remove everything Adrian and I chose together.
Adrian stands near the window.
He doesn't stop her.
A framed wedding photo sits on the nightstand.
One of the servants reaches for it.
"No!"
Ellie runs across the room and grabs the frame.
"This is Mommy and Daddy's room!"
Ellie hugs the photo to her chest.
"You can't throw this away."
Vanessa limps toward her.
"I'm going to live here now."
"No."
"Your father wants me here."
"No, he doesn't!"
Vanessa lifts her crutch.
Before anyone moves, she swings it into Ellie's side.
Ellie cries out and falls.
Vanessa raises the crutch again.
"Maybe your mother never taught you manners."
She hits Ellie a second time.
"Vanessa."
My voice stops everyone in the room.
She freezes.
Adrian turns.
"Serena."
I walk inside.
Blood is already seeping through the bandage on my shoulder.
Ellie is curled on the floor, still clutching the wedding photo.
Vanessa looks down at her.
"As her future stepmother, I'm trying to teach her some respect."
I stare at Adrian.
He says nothing.
Vanessa knocks the frame from Ellie's hands.
The glass shatters.
Then she steps on it.
"Things change."
She looks at Ellie.
"So do families."
Ellie tries to grab the broken frame.
Vanessa's shoe comes down on her hand.
Ellie screams.
I reach for my gun.
Adrian catches my wrist.
"Enough."
I look at him.
"Move."
"Vanessa is injured."
"So is your daughter."
"Ellie shouldn't have come in here."
I almost don't recognize him.
Vanessa presses her heel harder against Ellie's hand.
"Apologize."
Ellie looks up at Adrian.
"Daddy..."
He doesn't move.
Vanessa smiles.
"Call me Mom, and I'll let you go."
"No!"
Her heel twists.
Ellie cries harder.
That's enough.
I wrench my hand free from Adrian.
Vanessa looks toward me.
I don't draw my gun.
I pull the encrypted remote trigger from inside my jacket.
Adrian's expression changes instantly.
"Serena."
I activate it.
A red targeting dot appears on Vanessa's forehead.
She goes completely still.
Outside, somewhere beyond the estate, the long-range weapons system powers up.
A low mechanical roar rolls through the compound.
Vanessa goes pale.
"What is that?"
I walk toward her.
"Take your foot off my daughter."
She does it immediately.
Ellie crawls toward me.
I pull her behind my legs.
Adrian steps in front of Vanessa again.
"You wouldn't."
I look at him.
"You know me better than that."
His eyes narrow.
"Turn it off."
"My house is filthy."
I glance around the room Vanessa has torn apart.
"Seems like a good time for some cleaning."
I raise the trigger.
Vanessa grabs Adrian's arm.
"She's crazy!"
Adrian reaches for me.
"Serena, don't."
My thumb settles over the final authorization button.
He knows what happens if I press it.
So does everyone else.
Vanessa's face drains of color.
"You'll kill all of us!"
I look straight at her.
"Not all of us."
Adrian's voice drops.
"Don't make me stop you."
I smile.
"Try."
第3章
Adrian grabs a golf club from beside the bedroom bar.
He swings before I can press the trigger.
The metal head slams into my injured shoulder.
Pain explodes through my arm.
Ellie screams.
"Mommy!"
Adrian hits me again.
"If you hurt Vanessa, I swear I'll send you straight to hell."
Blood runs beneath my bandage.
I don't move.
He swings again.
And again.
By the time the club bends, blood has splashed across his shirt.
I wipe it from the corner of my mouth.
"You're sure about this?"
Adrian's chest rises and falls.
"You started this."
I glance at Vanessa.
She's standing behind him with one hand over her stomach, watching me like she's already won.
"So this is really how far you're willing to go for her."
"Yes."
I nod.
"Fine."
Then I kick the crutch from Vanessa's hand.
She loses her balance and crashes to the floor.
Adrian lunges toward her.
I don't stop him.
The bedroom doors open.
Marcus Kane walks in with a team of armed men.
My second-in-command.
The man who's been at my side through assassinations, raids, wars, and every coup anyone has ever been stupid enough to attempt.
Adrian looks at them.
Then at me.
For the first time tonight, he smiles.
Vanessa laughs from the floor.
I look around the room.
"Remove them."
Marcus pulls his gun.
So do the others.
Dozens of weapons rise at once.
But none of them point at Adrian.
Every barrel turns toward me.
Ellie gasps.
I don't.
Marcus steps beside Adrian.
"Sorry, Ms. Vale."
Vanessa pushes herself upright.
Her smile widens.
Adrian walks toward Marcus and pats his shoulder.
"You really thought they were still yours?"
I look at Marcus.
He doesn't meet my eyes.
Vanessa laughs.
"Your loyal second-in-command has belonged to Adrian for months."
Adrian takes the remote trigger from my hand.
He switches off the targeting system.
Silence settles over the room.
Then he looks at me.
"Your reign is over, Serena."
Ellie runs to me.
Two men move to grab her.
My voice cuts through the room.
"Touch her and die."
They stop.
One man's hand is still hanging in midair.
I look at him.
"If anyone lays a finger on my daughter, I'll make sure he regrets being born."
Nobody moves.
Even with dozens of guns aimed at me, they still know exactly who I am.
Adrian notices.
"Bind her."
Two men approach.
They twist my arms behind my back and secure my wrists with reinforced restraints.
Ellie fights when another man reaches for her.
"Don't touch me!"
I look at Adrian.
"She stays with me."
"You're not in a position to make demands."
"Then have your men try."
No one volunteers.
Adrian stares at me for several seconds.
"Fine."
I kneel.
Ellie runs into my arms.
"Mommy, are we going to die?"
"No."
I kiss the top of her head.
Adrian laughs quietly.
"You still think you're in control."
I look up at him.
He has my house.
My men.
My weapons.
My second-in-command.
At least, that's what he thinks.
"Take them downstairs," Adrian orders.
Marcus finally looks at me.
For one brief second, neither of us speaks.
Then he turns away.
The men escort Ellie and me through the compound.
Everywhere I look, people who once lowered their heads when I passed now stand behind Adrian.
Ellie holds tightly to my hand.
"Mommy, I'm scared."
"Don't be."
She looks up at me.
"Why?"
Adrian is standing at the end of the hall with Vanessa beside him, watching as I'm taken away from the empire I built.
I smile.
"Because the real show hasn't even started."
