He Got Snipped for Her, So I Took Everything
Because his mistress hated condoms, my husband booked a vasectomy without hesitation. Then he handed me divorce papers and gave our home, my job, and my life to her. I thought that was the worst he could do—until he froze my accounts while my father was dying in the hospital. I begged him once. He laughed and hung up. So I stopped begging. I left, sued him, and returned only to end our marriage. Ethan thought I would always love him. He was wrong. By the time he regretted everything, I was already free.

第1章
My husband Ethan suddenly books a vasectomy. I thought he was trying to show his resolve, to get a quick divorce from me, since I had always wanted children.
It turned out he did it because his mistress hates the feel of condoms.
Right before they put him under, he unlocks his phone and hands it to me. It's the first time he's ever done it.
"The password is 020801. Buy whatever you want or dig out whatever you want."
Then he looks at me.
"But when I wake up, I expect the divorce papers signed. Oh wait, I might still need the phone before the surgery."
Then he snaps his phone back and calls someone. When he speaks again, his voice is so gentle that I have never heard before.
"Don't worry. It'll be really quick. You know the passwords to all my cards and safe. If anyone gives you trouble while I'm still under surgery, use the money. Consider it your backup."
When he says "anyone," his eyes flick toward me.
Of course. Three years ago, when I first found out Ethan was cheating on me, I went after the other woman like I'd lost my mind.
I followed him. I took pictures. I chased down every lead I could find.
But aside from the tuition payments he made to a poor girl every semester, I have never got any clue.
And I finally understand why it was so difficult to find any record of his cheating all these years.
All because the poor girl is the other woman.
When he finally ends his sweet talk with that girl, he looks at me impatiently and says, "Olivia, it's been three years. Maybe you're not tired of this, but I am. When I wake up, let me go. Can you do that?"
The nurses start wheeling him toward pre-op. I take the phone from his hand without a word.
He doesn’t know I’ve decided to let him go. After all, just last week, he even had someone ram into me to force me to sign the divorce agreement, leaving me in the ICU for several days.
I'm tired of this game.
Before I step out of the surgery room, I contact my lawyer consulting for divorce issue.
But Ethan figures I’m still trying to track the info about his mistress. He turns to his assistant and gives the order.
"I want eyes on Olivia at all times when I’m in hospital. And suspend her as Executive Director for now."
His eyes turn cold.
"Don't think I don't know what you're planning. You should never mess up with somebody."
A nurse comes over with the surgical checklist.
"Mr. Blackwell, I need to confirm your pre-op information one last time. When was the last time you had anything to eat or drink?"
Ethan opens his mouth, but I answer first.
"No food for eight hours. No liquids for three."
"Any medication allergies?"
"Penicillin. It gave him a rash once."
The nurse goes through a few more questions.
I answer every one of them.
Ethan keeps staring at me, his expression growing darker with every answer.
The nurse gives me an awkward smile. "Your wife really knows your medical history, Mr. Blackwell."
"Wife?"
Ethan gives a cold laugh.
"Not for much longer. Knowing every detail of my life isn't going to change that."
If this had happened a few years ago, I would have lost my mind trying to figure out why I fall short compared to his mistress?
Now, I just stand there and say nothing.
A little while later, the surgery begins.
The second I walk out of the hospital, my friend Mason texts me: [Olivia, I heard Ethan actually handed you his phone and told you to dig out whatever you want? He finally decides to let you know about the woman’s identity?]
Yeah, Ethan just doesn't care enough to hide it anymore.
Then another Mason’s text comes through.
[So are we still digging? Chloe Hayes should be back in Boston by now.]
Chloe Hayes is the woman Ethan has spent three years protecting.
She's a finance major. He paid for her entire degree, sent her overseas for two years, then brought her back and got her an internship at Blackwell Group.
He thinks he's been careful.
I type back.
[No. Just stop.]
第2章
When I get back to the house, laughter spills through the front door.
"Chloe, this is your fiancé's house? It's huge. It's beautiful. No wonder you gave up that job overseas to come back. Your whole life is already set."
My chest tightens.
I step forward to unlock the door.
The smart lock gives a sharp warning beep.
I try again.
The door opens from the inside.
Chloe Hayes stands in front of me with a bright, sweet smile.
Her outfit is perfect. Soft cashmere, delicate jewelry, tiny earrings that probably cost more than most people's rent.
One of her friends frowns at me.
"Chloe, is this the cleaner you hired? Why does she look so pissed?"
"She smells like hospital disinfectant. I'm going to throw up."
Chloe does not explain who I am.
My voice turns cold. "Ethan and I aren't divorced yet, and you're already rushing in to play lady of the house? Get out. Now. Or I'm calling the police."
I take out my phone.
Chloe claps once.
A security guard steps forward, snatches my phone, and pins me in place.
One of them is even a man who once helped me track Ethan.
I look at him.
He looks away.
"Olivia," Chloe says softly, "don't be ridiculous."
"Didn't the lock already give you the answer?"
She comes closer, grabs my hand, and presses my finger against the scanner again.
The warning beep screams through the entryway.
"Whoever can get in is the owner."
I clench my fists.
"Ethan and I bought this house together. My name is on the deed."
"You think deleting my fingerprint means you can steal my home?"
The second I finish, Chloe's smile grows.
She tells the housekeeper to bring the deed.
When the folder opens, the owner's name is no longer mine.
It is Chloe Hayes.
"I liked this house," she says. "So Ethan transferred it to me. Olivia, right now, you're the one trespassing."
My heart stops for a second.
Six months ago, Ethan brought me a stack of corporate filing papers. A few blank signature pages were mixed inside.
I did not think twice.
I signed them.
So even then, he was already planning to wipe me out of his life.
The people around Chloe start mocking me.
"Wow. Cleaners are bold these days. She just called the house hers. Of all people, she picked Mr. Blackwell's fiancée to mess with. That's humiliating."
I look around and finally notice everything has changed.
Every piece of furniture is new.
I rip myself free from the guard and run upstairs to the primary bedroom.
The moment I step inside, broken glass cuts into my foot.
My medical records are shredded across the floor.
Chloe follows me slowly.
"I didn't like those papers, so I asked the housekeeper to deal with them."
"But from the diagnosis, you were hurt pretty badly, weren't you?"
Mockery shines in her eyes.
"What a shame. Ethan doesn't care whether you live or die."
My eyes burn.
I raise my hand, ready to shove her away.
Before I can touch her, two uniformed officers appear in front of me.
"Mrs. Blackwell, we received a report of unlawful entry. You need to come with us."
I don't even have time to react.
Ethan strides in.
He steps in front of Chloe like I am some kind of monster, his eyes red with anger.
Then he slaps me across the face.
"Olivia Reed, did I not tell you?"
His voice is low and brutal.
"Don't touch people you have no right to touch."
第3章
Ethan looks at me like I am filth.
But his face is pale.
Under his jacket, I can still see the edge of a hospital gown.
The anesthesia has not even fully worn off, but he still rushes back to protect Chloe from me.
Two years ago, when I collapsed from overwork and ended up in the ICU, the hospital called him because they needed family consent.
On the phone, Ethan only said, "Once she's rested, tell her to get back to work."
The two days I took to recover later became his excuse to cut my bonus.
The second Chloe sees Ethan, her eyes turn red.
Ethan sees her wounded face, then glances at the broken glass on the floor. His expression sinks into something ugly.
He takes out his phone.
"Olivia Reed tried to cut my fiancée. I want to press charges for attempted assault."
The taste of blood spreads in my mouth.
I don't get one chance to explain before the officers lead me out.
The moment I step outside, dozens of cameras flash in my face.
"Mrs. Blackwell, is it true you've been stalking and investigating your husband for three years?"
"Is it true you tried to hurt his fiancée while Mr. Blackwell was in surgery?"
People shove toward me.
I can barely stand.
A camera hits my forehead and splits the skin.
When Ethan comes downstairs and sees it, he frowns.
For one stupid second, I think he will stop them.
Instead, he steps forward and says in a deep voice, "This is my family matter. Stay out of it."
It sounds like he is protecting me.
But he has just confirmed everything they accused me of.
Beside him, Chloe lowers her head like a victim.
A tiny laugh slips from her throat.
The last bit of expectation in me disappears.
At the police station, Ethan looks down at me.
"Apologize to Chloe."
"What if I don't?"
His voice turns colder. "Then I'll pursue the trespassing charge to the end."
"Trespassing."
I close my eyes and laugh.
When we bought that house, Ethan was so happy he pulled me around the garden again and again.
He said I would always be the woman of that home.
So forever only lasts three years.
Ethan frowns and starts to speak, but Chloe cuts in with wet eyes.
"Maybe we should just let it go. I mean, I was scared, but Olivia is only acting this way because she's jealous…"
Ethan's face hardens at once.
"Apologize."
When I stay silent, his warning drops lower.
"If you still want your father safe in the hospital."
My mind goes blank.
My father has been recovering from a stroke for three years in a private hospital owned by the Blackwell family.
I used to think that was love.
Now I understand every kind gesture has a price.
I look at Ethan, and suddenly I lose the strength to argue.
"I'm sorry," I say. "I shouldn't have entered your home. I shouldn't have bothered your fiancée. Is that enough?"
Ethan's brows pull tighter instead.
After two seconds of silence, he takes out a document.
"As long as you stop harassing Chloe, you'll get your fair share of the assets."
I grip the divorce papers.
"As for your position at the company, Chloe has already taken over."
"She's young and smart. She's adapting well."
His face softens when he says her name.
My pen pauses over the paper.
I am the one who stood beside him and helped build Blackwell Group from nothing.
I am the one who handled every dinner, every investor, every room full of men who wanted drinks before numbers.
More than once, I drank until my stomach bled.
During the busiest stretch, I barely went home. I slept on the office couch for over a month.
But now, he has forgotten all of it.
The winter wind cuts straight through me.
I breathe out a cloud of white air.
Under Ethan's stare, I sign my name.
When he sees how fast I do it, one brow lifts.
"You don't want to check the asset split a few more times? If I say I want the house back, will you give it to me?"
Ethan goes quiet for a long moment.
"Everything except that."
My lips part.
Then I suddenly feel tired.
Fine.
It is only a house.
If he won't give it back, then I don't want it.
第4章
I have just stepped into the small apartment under my own name when my phone starts ringing.
The sound is sharp and frantic.
"Mrs. Blackwell, your father's heart condition has relapsed. He's critical. You need to come to the hospital now."
My heart drops.
I rush to the ER so fast I barely remember the ride there.
Outside the operating room, the doctor flips through my father's chart with a grave face.
"Mrs. Blackwell, your father had serious trauma to his chest years ago. It has triggered a severe arrhythmia this time. He needs surgery immediately."
I know exactly what he means.
Years ago, when Ethan was starting Blackwell Group and drowning in debt, my father borrowed money to help him.
The people he borrowed from came after him.
They beat him so badly he could barely breathe for weeks.
I take one deep breath and go straight to billing.
The woman at the desk swipes my card, then frowns.
"I'm sorry. This account is restricted. The payment won't go through."
I freeze.
That account is the medical fund Ethan and I set up for my father. Every month, we put a huge amount of money into it.
How can it be restricted?
I don't have time to think.
I hand over every card in my wallet.
One after another, the machine rejects them.
The doctor comes out again, his voice tight.
"Mrs. Blackwell, your father's vitals are unstable. We need authorization and payment clearance now."
My fingers shake as I call Ethan.
The line rings for so long I almost think he won't pick up.
At the last second, he answers.
My voice breaks the moment I speak.
"Ethan, why are my accounts frozen? My dad needs surgery right now. Please, just unfreeze them."
There is a short silence.
Then he laughs.
"You're getting better at this."
My whole body goes cold.
"What?"
"Chloe has been upset all day because of you," he says. "Freezing your accounts for a month is already me being merciful."
He is about to hang up.
I grip the phone so hard my knuckles hurt.
"I am not playing games with you. My father is dying. I sent you his chart. Just look at it once."
His voice turns impatient.
"How long are you going to keep acting?"
That is when I realize the medical file never went through.
Ethan blocked me.
I stare at my phone screen, and for a second, the whole hospital seems to tilt.
The doctor comes over with another emergency form.
I grab at that last bit of hope.
"I'm not lying. The doctor is right here. If you don't believe me, listen to him."
But before the doctor can speak, Chloe's voice floats through the phone.
"Ethan, which suit do you like for our engagement party? Come help me choose."
Ethan's voice softens instantly.
"White. It suits you."
Then he comes back to me, cold and bored.
"Enough. You already signed the divorce papers. Stop using cheap tricks to get my attention. When Chloe says she's ready, I'll unfreeze your accounts."
The call ends.
I call again.
His phone is off.
The hospital hallway turns silent around me.
I lean against the wall and watch the red light above the operating room flash.
Then stop.
The doctor comes out.
His face says everything before his mouth does.
"We did everything we could. I'm sorry for your loss."
After that, everything moves like a dream.
The death certificate, the funeral home, and everything.
I do not cry.
I force myself to stay calm because there is no one left to fall apart for me.
I have a small memorial pendant made with my father's ashes inside it.
I put it around my neck.
That way, it feels like he is still with me.
After I finish everything, I use the last cash I have to buy a one-way ticket out of Boston.
At the gate, my phone buzzes with messages.
Ethan finally remembers me.
[Your cards work now. Don't use your father as an excuse to make a scene again. Be decent, Olivia. If you behave, I might let you attend my engagement party with Chloe.]
I stare at the message.
Then I turn off my phone and board the plane.
