My husband chose his mistress over our daughter. Because of Isabella's lies, Adrian killed Sofia, destroyed my family, and left me to die last. Years later, he learned the truth—but his regret came far too late. Then I woke up ten years in the past. This time, I won't beg Adrian to believe me. I'll protect my daughter myself. But changing the past reveals something worse: Isabella isn't the only traitor. Adrian has already begun plotting against my family. So I stop fighting for my husband's love. I expose his mistress, save my family, and take the Mafia empire he never believed a woman could rule.

第1章

The first time I died, my husband had already killed our daughter for his mistress. Sofia was twenty-two when Isabella Russo accused her of plotting a coup with my family. Adrian believed her. I gave up everything I controlled inside the DeLuca organization. Accounts. Contacts. Men who had answered to me for years. I begged him to spare our daughter. He didn't. After Sofia died, Adrian used the so-called coup to destroy the Morettis. My father was killed. My brother followed. I died last. Years later, Adrian finally learned Isabella had lied. He cried over our graves. Then I opened my eyes and found myself ten years in the past. "Elena?" The architect's voice pulls me into the present. I look down. Blueprints cover the table in front of me. The DeLuca family crypt. I remember this day. Adrian had ordered the old mausoleum renovated. His parents were buried there, along with generations of DeLucas. He had already chosen his own burial place. And beside it— ISABELLA RUSSO. I stare at the name. Last time, I said nothing. Adrian told me Isabella had spent her childhood terrified of dark places. He had promised she would never be alone, not even after death. I had swallowed the humiliation because I was his wife. Because I thought that meant I had already won. Now I pick up the pen and draw one line through her name. "Mrs. DeLuca—" "She isn't a DeLuca." "Mr. DeLuca personally approved—" "And I'm personally rejecting it." I slide the plans back to him. "If Adrian wants his mistress buried somewhere nice, he can buy her a cemetery." A folder beneath the blueprints catches my eye. Security rotations. I open it. My hand stills. Three days from now, several crews loyal to my father are being moved away from two key DeLuca properties. According to the note, they'll be replaced by Luca Russo's men. Isabella's brother. I read it twice. In my first life, the Morettis weren't destroyed until after Sofia was accused of betraying Adrian. At least, that was what I had believed. Maybe the purge hadn't started with Sofia. Maybe Adrian had been preparing for it years before any of us knew. I pull out my phone. "Dad." "Elena?" "Don't move any of your men this week. I don't care what orders come from Adrian." "What did you find?" "I'll explain later." I look toward the window. "And put two more men on Sofia. No food, drink, medication, nothing reaches her without being checked." The office doors open before he can answer. Adrian walks in. Isabella is beside him. Of course she is. Her eyes are already wet. Around her neck hangs a diamond-and-emerald necklace I know very well. Adrian's grandmother wore it. Then his mother. After our wedding, it was given to me. "Why did you remove Isabella from the plans?" Adrian asks. I hang up. "Because she isn't family." "It is a grave, Elena." "Then why does she need it so badly?" "I don't. I told Adrian it wasn't necessary," Isabella says. "Really?" I look at the necklace. "Take that off." Her hand flies to it. Adrian steps between us. "I gave it to her." "It wasn't yours to give." "Elena." "No." I walk forward and unclasp it myself. Isabella gasps. Adrian catches my wrist. In my first life, that would have hurt. Now I only look at his hand until he releases me. "You have my name," he says coldly. "My home. My daughter. Everything that comes with being my wife. Isabella asked for one thing." "One?" I almost laugh. "She's wearing a family heirloom that was given to me while you put her name in your family crypt." "She was afraid." "And Sofia will be afraid too, one day." His expression changes slightly. He doesn't understand. Not yet. I close my fingers around the necklace. "Isabella does not enter the DeLuca crypt. She does not wear what belongs to me. And from today on, she stays away from my daughter." Isabella starts crying. Adrian's face hardens. "You're punishing her because you're jealous." "No." I meet his eyes. "I'm correcting a mistake." Something suddenly burns against my palm. I look down. A folded sheet of paper lies beneath the crypt plans. I know it wasn't there before. Dark red stains spread across it like dried blood. My handwriting appears across the page. You changed what happened. A second line slowly forms. Tonight, Isabella Russo will poison your daughter. I stop breathing. This never happened in my first life. The future has already changed. And Sofia is twelve years old.

第2章

By seven that evening, every entrance to Sofia's floor is watched. I don't tell Adrian. I don't tell Sofia why. Not yet. At eight twenty, a member of the household staff carries a tray upstairs. Hot chocolate. Sofia drinks it almost every night while she studies. My security man intercepts the tray before it reaches her room. A lab technician I trust confirms it in less than twenty minutes. "Poison." Sofia goes still beside me. I had made her stay while we tested it. Maybe that is cruel. But last time, I protected her from the truth until the truth killed her. Not again. My men follow the staff member who delivered the tray. He meets Danny Cole, one of the household security assistants. Danny is caught leaving the rear garage. In his pocket, we find cash and messages arranging the delivery. The number belongs to Isabella's assistant. When Adrian arrives, everything is already on the table. The poisoned drink. The payment. The messages. Danny's signed statement. Isabella comes with him. She sees the evidence and immediately starts crying. "I don't know anything about this." I look at Adrian. "Your daughter was almost poisoned." His eyes move over the table. Then to me. "How did you know to stop the drink?" For one second, I think I misheard him. "What?" "You changed Sofia's security this morning. Hours before any of this happened." Sofia looks at him. "You think Mom poisoned me?" she asks. Adrian exhales. "I didn't say that." "You didn't have to." Isabella steps forward. "Sofia, your father is only trying to understand what happened." Sofia looks at her. "Don't." "Excuse me?" "Don't talk to me like you're my mother." "Sofia," Adrian warns. "She isn't," Sofia says. "She could have killed me." "We don't know that." Sofia stares at him. There is poison ten feet from his daughter. And Adrian still cannot say Isabella might be responsible. He turns to me. "Danny could have been paid by anyone. Messages can be faked." "Of course." My voice is calm. "You'd rather believe I staged my own daughter's murder than believe Isabella wanted her dead." "I said I want proof." "You have proof." "I have pieces." Isabella wipes her tears. "Elena has hated me for years. Maybe she thought if Sofia was never in real danger—" I cross the room before she finishes. Adrian steps between us. "Enough." I look past him at Sofia. This is the moment. Not when she is twenty-two. Not when she is in a cell waiting for her father to decide whether she lives. Now. "Sofia." She looks at me. "Never assume your father will choose you just because you're his daughter." "Elena," Adrian says. I ignore him. "Your safety cannot depend on someone loving you enough to do the right thing." Sofia swallows. Then nods. Adrian orders Danny and Isabella's assistant held separately while he "investigates." I know what that means. Time. Time for evidence to disappear. Time for stories to change. As Isabella leaves, she looks back at me. She isn't afraid. She smiles. The paper inside my jacket turns hot. I pull it out. The old words vanish. New ones bleed across the page. Danny has an eight-year-old sister. Isabella is using her to control him. Another line appears. Three nights from now, Isabella will announce that she is pregnant. I keep reading. She will drink from a glass connected to you. She will collapse in front of Adrian and the family. Her doctor will say she lost the baby. Then: They will say you killed Adrian's unborn son because you wanted Sofia to inherit. One final sentence appears. Isabella Russo is not pregnant. I look toward the door she just walked through. For three days, I traced every lie Isabella had built around this pregnancy. The clinic led to an old medical file. The file led to a woman the Russo family had spent years pretending didn't exist.
