The Underboss's Doormat Wife is the Don's Queen
"You're too boring in bed," my Underboss husband laughed, kissing my best friend right in front of me. Everyone in the Syndicate thought I was a pathetic, dependent doormat who would beg him to stay. They were wrong. I wasn't just his obedient wife; I was the secret mastermind who built his entire empire. To punish his betrayal, I unleashed my best friend's psycho hitman husband to slaughter them both. As my cheating husband lay dying in the ICU, I personally pulled his life support. Now, I'm taking his territory, his wealth, and my rightful place as the Don's Queen.

第1章
I am the second-to-last person in the entire Syndicate to find out that my husband, Dante, the Underboss, is sleeping with my best friend.
Through the cracked door, I can hear the capos and lieutenants betting on whether I'll leave him.
"Aria will never divorce him. She's completely dependent on him!" one of the men laughs, taking a drag from his cigar.
"Exactly. Dante is the Underboss now. Aria is just a spineless little doormat. Without him, she's nothing. How could she possibly compete with Mia?"
"Mia, babe, tell us. Is his pathetic wife causing trouble at home?"
My best friend, Mia, one of the Syndicate's high-ranking associates, smirks. She confidently straddles my husband's lap and runs her fingers through his dark hair.
"Aria? Causing trouble?" Dante chuckles.
"She wouldn't dare."
Mia kisses Dante right in front of his men.
I stand in the dark hallway, my nails digging so hard into my palms that they break the skin.
Suddenly, I realize they invited me to the club tonight on purpose.
They wanted me to see this.
They wanted to watch my reaction and humiliate me for their own amusement.
If I wanted Dante's money or his life, I could take either one a thousand different ways.
But since he desperately wants to play this game, I'll play along.
I pull out my phone and dial a number.
Victor. Mia's husband.
Victor is the Syndicate's top hitman. He is a violent psychopath with a hair-trigger temper. He has butchered men just for looking at Mia the wrong way.
"Victor," I whisper into the phone, making my voice sound hesitant. "Mia is at the Syndicate Club. I think she's had too much to drink. You should come pick her up."
"Who is she drinking with?" Victor asks.
"Just some guys. They're getting pretty handsy. You better hurry."
"I'm on my way."
I hang up.
Victor once proudly told Dante, "Mia is my entire world. I keep a blade on me at all times, just in case anyone dares to touch what's mine."
Just as I turn toward the club entrance, my phone lights up.
It's Mia.
"Aria, you're here, aren't you?" she says.
"The bartender said you were standing outside the booth. You saw everything, didn't you?"
I let out a soft, pathetic hum.
Mia laughs.
"You really are a useless coward."
It's true.
Everyone in the Syndicate thinks I'm weak.
When Dante and I were teenagers, I was just the quiet girl who followed him around. He was the ambitious rising star. I was his obedient shadow.
"Are you too scared to even walk into the room, Aria? It's no fun if you won't play along."
Through the cracked door, the men inside erupt into cheers and laughter.
Then Dante takes the phone from her.
"If we'd known you were this terrified of losing me, we wouldn't have bothered hiding it. But honestly? Fucking your best friend behind your back has been pretty exciting."
"I have to say, Aria. She's a hell of a lot better in bed than you are."
"Where are you? In the bathroom?" Dante asks.
"I'll come find you. Don't throw a tantrum."
I watch from the end of the hallway as Dante steps out of the VIP booth and spots me by the exit.
He walks over without a hint of shame and casually strokes my cheek.
"Don't look so heartbroken, Aria. I'm not going to divorce you. You're still my wife."
Right on cue, Mia saunters out of the booth, rubbing her temples.
She walks straight into Dante's arms, rests her chin on his broad shoulder, and shoots me a triumphant look.
"Dante, my head hurts. The guys made me drink too much."
"Take me to the hotel. Aria already knows anyway, so there's no need to hide anymore. She doesn't mind, right?"
Mia looks at me.
A wicked smirk curves her red lips.
At that exact moment, my phone buzzes in my pocket.
A text from Victor:
[Send me the address.]
I quietly share my live location.
第2章
After sharing my location, I stare blankly at Mia.
"What if I do mind?" I ask.
Mia puts on an apologetic expression and weakly tries to push Dante away, but he tightens his arm around her.
"We've done it so many times, Aria. Do you really think you can separate us now?"
Dante laughs and looks directly into my eyes.
"Didn't you say it yourself? You're too boring in bed. You can't satisfy me."
He says it to Mia, but his mocking gaze never leaves me.
Mia gives me a fake, worried look.
"He's just joking, Aria. He's just teasing you."
My nails dig deeper into my palms.
I let out a soft, breathy, "Oh."
"Then let me go with you to take her home."
"What did you just say?" Mia asks, genuinely stunned.
"Didn't you say your head hurts? My husband and I will take you home."
With that, I step forward and firmly grab Dante's arm, pulling him toward me.
Seeing how desperately I cling to him, Mia freezes for a second, then bursts into laughter.
She leans in and presses herself against Dante's other arm.
"Wow. So you finally learned how to get jealous? A little temper makes you cute."
Their movements and words are so natural, as if betraying me right in front of my face means nothing.
But I don't let a single crack show.
Years ago, a rival gang cornered Dante in an alley, threatening to slaughter our entire crew.
I played the terrified, weeping girl, hiding behind him.
Dante fought them off, bleeding and bruised. Afterward, he glared at me and said, "You need to grow a spine, Aria."
He thought he was my great protector.
He thought his threats were what drove the rival boss out of the city.
He didn't know that while he was fighting, I had secretly sent the man's extortion ledgers straight to the Feds.
The rival boss fled because he was terrified of federal prison, not Dante's fists.
I kept the truth to myself.
I let Dante take the credit.
I let him climb all the way to Underboss.
I thought, if being the submissive wife fed his ego, what did it matter?
He was my husband.
But I never expected my submission to become the weapon he would eventually use against me.
"But I booked a penthouse suite at the Valenti Hotel. Who said I wanted to go home?"
Mia's voice pulls me back.
She blinks at me, smug satisfaction written all over her face.
She looks at Dante.
"Don't you want to go? But bringing Aria along... wouldn't she ruin the mood?"
Mia's gaze shifts between Dante and me.
Before she can say another word, I speak first.
"Dante, come home with me."
I stare at him, making my voice small and pleading.
Right in front of me, Dante's hand slides down Mia's lower back.
He looks at her with open lust.
"I already sent that black lace set you wanted me to wear to the hotel," Mia whispers. "If you miss it tonight, I'll never wear it again."
Dante's pupils dilate.
The hunger in his eyes is impossible to miss.
"Aria, go home," Dante finally says, looking at me with barely concealed irritation.
I stare at him, pretending to be utterly heartbroken.
"Are you sure?"
He nods, frowning impatiently.
"Be a good girl. Listen to me, unless you want me to divorce you."
I take a deep breath.
Mia lets out a sharp, cruel giggle.
"Unless you want to stay and watch us? I don't think so. That might be a little too much for you."
第3章
I don't say a word.
Mia suddenly leans closer and whispers directly into my ear.
"Do you know when we first slept together?"
"It was when you were recovering from that car accident. We did it in your own bed."
"Aria, if you're smart, you'll sign the divorce papers right now."
My entire body begins to tremble.
The day of my car crash...
I was driving through a massive thunderstorm just to pick up Dante's favorite pastries from a bakery across town. The rain was blinding, and another car slammed into me from behind.
It turns out he sent me out for them on purpose.
While I was bleeding in an ambulance, my husband was fucking another woman in our bed.
And that woman was supposed to be my best friend.
I stare at Mia, letting devastation spread across my face.
"Why are you doing this?"
"Aria, you're pretty, but Dante is a powerful man now. Women like you are a dime a dozen," Mia says with a vicious grin.
"If he stays with you, someone else is just going to steal him anyway. Might as well be me."
"Besides, my psycho husband? I've been wanting to dump him for a long time."
I glance at the time on my phone.
Victor should arrive in exactly ten minutes.
"Will Victor let you go? You told me he's obsessed with you."
At the mention of Victor, Mia's arrogant tone falters for half a second.
"Victor? I snap my fingers, and he does whatever I want."
"When the time comes, I'll just trick him into signing the divorce papers. He's as easy to manipulate as you are."
She acts completely nonchalant, showing no respect for Victor and even less fear.
But I remember scrolling through Victor's private social media account.
It was filled with photos of butchered animals, bloodstained knives, and cryptic posts about what he'd do to anyone who touched Mia.
I can't resist reminding her.
"What if he catches you cheating?"
"He'll never find out. He's probably out collecting protection money right now. I've got him wrapped around my finger. You wouldn't understand!"
I almost laugh.
I discreetly glance at my phone.
A message from Victor pops up.
[I'm pulling up.]
I don't want to let them off the hook so easily.
"I'll go to the hotel lobby and wait for you. Once you two are... done, can we go home together?"
Mia looks at me in disbelief.
"Are you really this... desperate? You can't live without him?"
Dante quickly chimes in, his voice dripping with disgust.
"Aria, do you have no self-respect?"
"We humiliate you like this, and you still beg? What the hell is wrong with you?"
I keep my face perfectly earnest, as if he simply can't understand how much I love him.
"If it weren't for Dante back in college, I wouldn't have survived. He protected me."
"Besides, you paid my tuition, Dante. You took care of me. You just don't understand... I can't leave you."
I intentionally bring up the past.
The truth is, my secret assets are worth far more than everything Dante owns.
But he always loved playing the generous provider, and I let him because it fed his ego.
By saying this now, I hope to trigger whatever humanity he has left.
If he walks away with me tonight, I'll quietly hand him the divorce papers and let him walk away alive.
Mia is speechless.
Her face tightens with jealousy.
Dante looks annoyed but clearly pleased with himself.
"Aria, stop bringing that up."
Then he looks at Mia.
"I told you to keep what we do away from Aria. I'm not divorcing her. Don't start getting ideas."
Mia's expression changes instantly.
She puts on a sweet smile.
"I didn't mean it like that, baby! I was just worried she'd ruin our mood tonight!"
Just then, out of the corner of my eye, I see a sleek black Maybach pull up outside the club.
Lorenzo steps out.
The Don himself.
For a fraction of a second, his gaze locks onto mine.
He knows I'm pretending.
