My little sister stole my mafia boyfriend, and my entire family helped her do it. They thought she'd become the next Don's wife. I let her have him while I collected his diamonds, cash, and a Manhattan penthouse. But when he tried to sacrifice me to protect her, I walked away with enough evidence to ruin him. Now my sister's precious mafia heir has lost everything, and his dangerously handsome rival Don won't stop chasing me. Apparently, I traded up without even trying.

Chapter 1
My boyfriend was the heir to one of New York's most powerful mafia families.
The day before his family's private gala, everyone I loved suddenly decided he wasn't good enough for me.
My best friend, Paige, was the first to warn me.
“Blair, don't go tomorrow. I had someone look into Renzo. He's just a low-level bodyguard for the Vieri family. The guy's practically broke.”
My older brother, Graham, shoved his phone in my face.
“I checked too. No property, no savings, and a shitload of gambling debt. You seriously want to date a loser like that?”
Before I could respond, Mom called.
“Your father and I have discussed it. You're breaking up with him. We didn't raise you to marry some broke thug who carries a gun for a living.”
I almost laughed.
Because I'd already looked into my boyfriend myself.
Lorenzo Vieri wasn't some low-level bodyguard.
He was the eldest son of New York's most feared mafia Don, and the man everyone expected to inherit the Vieri crime family.
The watch he'd given me for Christmas was worth more than my entire annual income.
And apparently, my family thought I was an idiot.
I smiled and told them I'd think about it.
The following evening, I put on my best dress and headed straight to the Whitmore Grand.
My parents owned five hotels across New York and New Jersey. The Whitmore Grand was our flagship property, and the Vieri family had booked its entire top floor for a private gala.
I arrived just in time to see a waitress spill an entire glass of red wine down my boyfriend's expensive suit.
Two bodyguards immediately stepped forward.
The waitress flinched, but she didn't run.
Instead, she grabbed a clean napkin and held it out to Renzo.
“I'm so sorry, sir. I'll pay for the damage.”
Renzo looked down at his jacket.
“Do you have any idea how much this suit costs?”
She shook her head.
“Fifty thousand dollars.”
Her face turned pale.
For a moment, she looked ready to cry. Then she straightened her shoulders.
“I'll pay you back. Even if I have to work extra shifts for the next ten years.”
Renzo raised an eyebrow.
“That's a lot of shifts, sweetheart.”
“I don't care. I made a mistake, and I'll take responsibility. I don't need your charity.”
He smiled.
I knew that smile.
It was the one he wore whenever something genuinely amused him.
“What's your name?”
“Sienna.”
My little sister.
My sweet, innocent little sister, who'd never worked a day in her life.
The same girl who'd cried for three hours when Dad bought her a BMW instead of the Porsche she'd wanted for her twenty-first birthday.
And now she was standing in our family's hotel, wearing a waitress uniform, pretending she couldn't afford to replace a ruined suit.
I almost admired the commitment.
Almost.
Renzo took the napkin from her hand.
“Relax. I'm not going to make you pay fifty grand.”
Sienna shook her head.
“Please don't do that. I don't want special treatment.”
Something in Renzo's expression changed.
He was interested.
Wonderful.
I was about to walk over when a low laugh drew my attention to the other side of the ballroom.
A tall man in a black suit stood near the private lounge, holding a glass of whiskey.
His dark shirt was open at the collar, revealing a glimpse of his chest. He had sharp features, dark hair, and the kind of lazy smile that probably got women into serious trouble.
He was ridiculously handsome.
An older man approached him with two bodyguards.
I couldn't hear what they said, but I noticed the way the older man lowered his voice.
The stranger merely smiled, took another sip of whiskey, and said something that made the other man's face go white.
Then he laughed.
I had no idea who he was.
But judging by the way everyone gave him space, he wasn't someone you wanted to piss off.
Before I could look any longer, I heard a familiar voice behind me.
“Holy shit, it's actually working.”
Paige.
She was standing with Graham behind a partially open door near the ballroom.
I stopped walking.
Graham chuckled.
“Told you Sienna could pull it off.”
“Look at him. He's totally into her!”
Paige sounded delighted.
“Men like Renzo are surrounded by gold diggers. Of course he'd fall for a sweet little waitress who doesn't care about his money.”
Graham laughed.
“Good thing we convinced Blair he's just some broke bodyguard.”
“Does she actually believe that?”
“Why wouldn't she? Mom and Dad told her the same thing. She thinks we're looking out for her.”
Paige giggled.
“God, she's gullible.”
I stood there, staring at the back of my brother's head.
Graham lowered his voice.
“Once Blair dumps him, Sienna can have the future Don all to herself.”
“And your parents will finally get what they want.”
“Exactly. Dad's been trying to expand the hotel chain for years. Imagine what having the Vieri family behind us could do.”
Paige laughed again.
“And Sienna gets to be a mafia princess.”
“Future Don's wife,” Graham corrected. “That's the whole point.”
I looked back into the ballroom.
Sienna was accepting a business card from my boyfriend.
She lowered her eyes, looking terribly shy.
Renzo was smiling at her like he'd just discovered something fascinating.
So that was the plan.
The bodyguard story. The gambling debts. The sudden concern for my love life.
All bullshit.
My parents, my brother, and my best friend had found out exactly who Renzo was.
And instead of telling me, they'd decided my little sister deserved him more.
They'd even arranged for her to work as a waitress in our own hotel, just so she could accidentally spill wine on him.
I had spent years working my ass off while my parents handed Sienna everything she wanted.
Apparently, even my boyfriend was up for grabs now.
I watched Renzo slip his business card into Sienna's hand.
Fine.
If my sister wanted him that badly, she was welcome to try.
But I wasn't walking away empty-handed.
Chapter 2
I went home that night without speaking to Renzo.
Sienna was on the couch with Mom, showing her something on her phone. They stopped talking when I walked in.
“Nice uniform,” I said. “Didn't know you were working at the hotel.”
Sienna smiled nervously.
“They were short-staffed, so I offered to help.”
“Since when do you help out?”
“Blair!” Mom snapped. “Your sister's trying to do something useful. Can't you be supportive for once?”
I shrugged and went upstairs.
Behind me, Sienna sighed.
“I don't know why she hates me so much.”
Poor thing.
I was removing my makeup when Renzo texted.
Where were you tonight? I waited for you.
Something came up.
He called immediately.
“Blair, what's going on?”
“Anything interesting happen at the gala?”
He chuckled.
“Some waitress spilled wine all over me. Sweet girl, though. Insisted on paying for my suit.”
“Her name's Sienna.”
“How do you know?”
“She's my sister.”
A pause.
“Seriously? Small world.”
“Apparently.”
“Look, she seemed nice. Don't tell me you're upset about a little accident.”
I stared at my reflection.
He'd met her once and was already defending her.
“I'm not upset. Are we still having dinner tomorrow?”
“Of course, beautiful.”
The next evening, Renzo sent his driver to pick me up.
He'd reserved a private room at my favorite Italian restaurant. My usual pasta was waiting, along with the wine I liked.
He even remembered that I hated mushrooms.
For twenty minutes, everything felt normal.
He asked about my writing, complained about his father's latest demands, and promised we'd spend the weekend together.
Then the door opened.
“I'm so sorry to interrupt.”
Sienna stood there holding a garment bag.
Of course she did.
“Mr. Vieri, I brought your jacket back. I had it professionally cleaned.”
Renzo looked surprised.
“How'd you know I was here?”
“Your assistant mentioned it when I called about the bill.”
She handed him an envelope.
“And here's my first payment. I'll send more every month.”
Renzo opened it.
A hundred dollars.
He laughed.
“You're really serious about this?”
“I made a mistake. I should pay for it.”
“Keep your money, sweetheart.”
Sienna shook her head.
“I don't want charity.”
Renzo studied her for a moment.
“Then how about a job? I could arrange an interview.”
“I don't want special treatment.”
“You won't get any. You'll have to earn it.”
After some hesitation, she accepted his business card.
I watched the entire conversation while my dinner went cold.
When she finally left, I put down my fork.
“You know she's not actually poor, right?”
Renzo frowned.
“What?”
“Our parents own the hotel. She drives a Porsche and has never needed to work.”
“Maybe she's trying to become independent.”
I laughed.
“Renzo, she only started working yesterday.”
“Everyone starts somewhere, Blair.”
I looked at him.
He sighed.
“I know your family has treated you badly, but that doesn't mean everything your sister does is some kind of scheme.”
That stung.
He knew exactly how much they'd hurt me.
And now he was taking her side.
I picked up my wine.
“Fine. Forget I said anything.”
Renzo relaxed and reached for my hand.
“That's my girl.”
I smiled.
If he wanted to spend his time playing hero for Sienna, I wasn't going to stop him.
But he was going to have to make up for neglecting me.
And Renzo Vieri had always been very generous when he felt guilty.
Chapter 3
Renzo used to call me every night.
Now I was lucky if he answered a text.
Meanwhile, Sienna had apparently become his favorite person.
She'd gotten the job he'd offered her, although I still wasn't sure what she actually did.
Every evening, she came home with another story about him.
“Renzo took me to lunch today,” she announced one night, dropping her designer purse onto the couch. “He's actually really sweet once you get to know him.”
I looked up from my laptop.
“I'd hope so. I've been dating him for a year.”
Her smile tightened.
“Right. Of course.”
I went back to my manuscript.
Honestly, she could have his lunch breaks.
I had other priorities.
That evening, I texted Renzo.
It's getting cold tonight. Don't forget your coat.
Two hours later, he replied.
Thanks, babe.
That was it.
A month ago, he'd have called immediately.
The following afternoon, someone knocked on my apartment door.
Renzo's right-hand man stood outside holding a velvet box.
“Mr. Vieri asked me to deliver this. He's been busy lately and wanted to apologize.”
Inside was a diamond bracelet.
A very expensive diamond bracelet.
I slipped it onto my wrist.
“Tell him I love it.”
Then I sent Renzo a photo.
It's beautiful. Don't worry about me, sweetheart. I know how important your work is.
Three minutes later, my banking app notified me of a deposit.
One hundred thousand dollars.
I smiled.
Guilt looked surprisingly good on my bank balance.
Over the next two weeks, the gifts kept coming.
A handbag. Diamond earrings. Another transfer.
I accepted everything and continued sending my usual sweet messages.
Then, over the weekend, I stopped texting altogether.
Renzo called Sunday night.
“Baby, you've been quiet.”
“I didn't want to bother you.”
“You're never a bother.”
I almost asked if Sienna knew that.
Instead, I sighed.
“It's just been difficult at home. Mom and Dad barely notice me unless they need something. Sometimes I wish I had somewhere that actually felt like mine.”
Renzo went quiet.
“Blair, you know I'd take care of you.”
“I know. I'm sorry. Forget I said anything.”
“Don't apologize, sweetheart.”
The next morning, his lawyer called.
Renzo had transferred a Manhattan penthouse into my name.
I nearly dropped my coffee.
By lunchtime, I had the paperwork.
That evening, I stopped by my parents' house to collect some things.
Sienna was in the kitchen when I laid the documents on the counter.
She spotted the address.
“Wait. That's the penthouse on Park Avenue.”
“Good eye.”
“Where did you get that?”
“Renzo gave it to me.”
Her face changed.
“He bought you an apartment?”
“Technically, he gave me an apartment. The distinction matters.”
She grabbed her phone.
“That's disgusting. You're using him!”
She called Renzo right in front of me.
“Renzo, Blair told me you bought her a penthouse. You shouldn't have to spend that kind of money to make someone love you.”
I leaned against the counter.
Renzo's voice came through the speaker.
“Sienna, that's between Blair and me.”
“But she's taking advantage of you!”
“She's my girlfriend. I can give her whatever I want.”
He hung up.
Sienna stared at her phone.
I picked up my paperwork.
“Anyway, enjoy your job, sweetie. I've got a new place to decorate.”
And for once, my little sister had absolutely nothing to say.
Chapter 4
Moving into my new penthouse was the best thing that had happened to me all month.
Renzo sent flowers, expensive champagne, and a handwritten note promising he'd visit soon.
He didn't.
Apparently, Sienna needed him more.
According to Paige, my little sister had been spending almost every evening at the Vieri estate.
Mom was thrilled.
“She's making wonderful connections,” she told me over the phone. “You should be happy for her.”
“I'm delighted.”
“Don't use that tone with me.”
I hung up.
Two days later, Renzo finally called.
“Baby, my father's hosting dinner tomorrow. I want you there.”
“Are you sure? You've been pretty busy.”
“I know. I'll make it up to you.”
I almost said no.
Then he mentioned Sienna would be there.
Well, that changed things.
The Vieri estate looked like something out of a gangster movie.
Iron gates, armed guards, and enough security cameras to make me wonder what Renzo's family was hiding.
Dinner was surprisingly pleasant.
Renzo's father, Don Vittorio Vieri, barely acknowledged Sienna, who sat beside his son looking painfully innocent in a white dress.
Renzo kept checking on her.
More wine? Another appetizer? Was she cold?
I concentrated on my steak.
Halfway through dessert, a man entered and whispered something to Vittorio.
The old Don's expression darkened.
“Bring him downstairs.”
Renzo immediately stood.
“I'll handle it.”
His father gave him a sharp look.
“Don't do anything stupid.”
Renzo smiled.
“Relax, Dad.”
Ten minutes later, Sienna excused herself.
I watched her follow Renzo into the hallway.
Naturally, I went looking for the bathroom.
I found them near the basement stairs instead.
A man was kneeling on the floor between two armed guards.
His face was bloody.
Renzo stood over him, sleeves rolled up.
“You've been talking to the wrong people, Frankie.”
The man shook his head frantically.
“I swear, boss. I didn't tell them anything!”
One guard struck him across the mouth.
Sienna gasped.
“Renzo! Stop!”
Everyone turned.
She hurried forward, tears already filling her eyes.
“He's hurt! You can't just keep hitting him!”
“Go upstairs, sweetheart,” Renzo said.
“But he has a family!”
Frankie immediately nodded.
“Two kids, miss. Please.”
Sienna stepped between him and the guards.
“Please let him go. Whatever he did, he deserves another chance.”
Renzo hesitated.
Then he looked at his men.
“Take the cuffs off.”
One guard frowned.
“Your father specifically ordered us to hold him.”
“I said take them off.”
The guards obeyed.
Frankie practically fell over himself thanking Sienna.
She gave Renzo a trembling smile.
“I knew you weren't cruel.”
He touched her cheek.
“For you, sweetheart.”
I backed away before they noticed me.
I'd heard enough.
Back upstairs, I found Vittorio speaking angrily into his phone.
“What do you mean he released Frankie?”
He listened, then slammed his glass onto the table.
“That idiot.”
I quietly collected my purse.
Whatever Frankie had done, Vittorio clearly hadn't wanted him free.
And Renzo had just ignored a direct order from the Don.
All because my sister cried.
As I reached the front door, I heard Vittorio shouting from his study.
“Find Frankie before somebody else does!”
I glanced back toward the basement stairs.
Sienna had no idea what she'd just gotten herself into.
Then again, neither did Renzo.
